Frequently Asked Questions
Each qualification is regulated and awarded by Britain’s longest established and most esteemed body for public health, the Royal Society For Public Health (RSPH).
Their role is to govern and oversee all stakeholder output with regards to the development of new and existing qualification curriculums and examinations for the QCCP.
The qualification is only accessible to regulated healthcare professionals with a license to prescribe in aesthetics. The exam is only available to:
- GMC registered doctors
- GDC Registered Dentists
- NMC Registered Independent Nurse Prescribers
- GPhC Registered Prescribing Pharmacists
The competency assessment requires practitioners to have an advanced skill-set which allows them to function independently.
While a competent practitioner will independently undertake assessment and treatment planning, the prescribed standards require that advanced practitioners are able to assess, manage and safely prescribe medicines in the event that a complication arises.
There are 2 qualifications available;
- Medical Aesthetics Certificate: Understanding the Safe Use of Botulinum Toxin in Cosmetic Procedures
- Medical Aesthetics Certificate: Understanding the Safe Use of Dermal Fillers in Cosmetic Procedures
Both exams are theoretical assessments but The QCCP and The RSPH recognize the need for practical examinations for each treatment modality and these will follow, as will more subjects for qualification.
All regulated healthcare professionals have a duty to practice only within their competency. In medical aesthetics, to date, practitioners are launched into autonomous private practice without reference to a competency framework and without any recognised competency assessment and validation.
The QCCP offers both new and experienced practitioners a direct and accessible route to obtain RSPH regulated qualifications without having to invest a significant amount of time and money. The competency standards are publicly available and provide, for the first time, a tangible benchmark and route map for practitioners who are on their journey towards competency.
For too long, delegates have had to rely on the quality of the marketing to choose their training providers. There is no objective and reliable way of truly appraising the quality of the training each provider delivers, so none are truly accountable for the learning outcomes and on-going success of those who invested with them.
For the first time, learners will now have access to a list of RSPH approved training centres who teach the recognised curriculum as opposed to being solely reliant on marketing and word of mouth.
The qualifications cost just £240 each and the exams take 2 hours to complete. This ground-breaking model removes the time and monetary barriers that have discouraged practitioners from participating in the university and level 7 awards.
Learners must complete all 4 papers within 2 hours. At the end of the allocated time, the platform will mark whether all papers have been completed or not. Students must complete each part before the next part can be accessed. It is possible to pause between each part, but the total time spent will be timed and limited to the total time allowed.
The award remains valid for three years to ensure competency and knowledge remains current and up to date. This model is in line with revalidation and encourages a review of knowledge every three years, appropriate in such a dynamic specialism.
The format is that of essays with redactions, and multiple choice. In parts 1-3 The student must choose the correct words from a key. Both the essays and the redactions are randomised in each examination paper. In part 4 there are randomised multiple choice questions.
The exams cost just £200 plus VAT each.
The papers are marked automatically via the exam platform. Learners must achieve a score of 75% in each section in order to pass. Successful submissions will be forwarded to the RSPH to verify and certificates will be issued within 14 days.
Learners will have a maximum of 3 attempts before being locked out. In the event that a leaners fails the exam 3 times they will have to wait 12 months before they are eligible to re-sit.
